Lucknet: Do you feel able to tell us about your experiences with voodoo ?
Dominique Lyonnais: Yes, but I must say that I have only been involved with white voodoo, not red voodoo.
>L: What is the difference?
DL: Well, white voodoo is for the benefit of the practitioner, red voodoo is to bring harm to an outsider. I was never involved in that - it was all too close to hell and damnation for me. I have no interest in harming others. I'll use the spirits but only to help me, not hurt someone else.
L: Tell us a little about the ceremonies if you can.
DL: Rhythm is the thing. the trance that is necessary so that you can be at one with the spirits is brought on partly by rhythm and movement. The drums are intoxicating and transport you to direct communication with the spirits.
L: What spirits?
DL: The sprirts of the Dead. They will help you if you treat them right. They reveal the powders and incantations that will make your wish come true. They talk to your soul. They go into your depths.
L: Can you give us an example?
DL: I was having a lot of problems- everthing seemed to be going wrong. My family, my job, and as for my finances! I didn't know which way to turn. I went to a practitioner in New York who said I needed a Powder of Protection.
L: What was in the powder?
DL: A blend of hysop against the bad spirits and rosemary to draw the sun and light.
L: Did it work?
DL: Wow, did it! He mixed some vinegar with it and from the moment I was using it I felt strong and positive . Slowly my luck changed, I felt as if there was someone on my side at last.
L: Do you use other formulas now?
DL: Yes, all the time. Money Drawing Powder is always with me somewhere- in the hem of my skirt, in a pocket in my purse. It's a mixture of clove powder, laurel and arabian incense. I'm never without it since I won promotion at work and a salary raise. The mixture has to be done in a specific order to work though and the color of the pouch it is carried in will mean different things.
L: Do you always have to carry the powders?
DL: No, some need to be burnt, others sprinkled . It depends what it is for.
L. Voodoo has a bad reputation. What about zombies - have you come across any?
DL: I don't really like to speak of such things.
L: Please do if you can. It may help our readers. What is a zombie ?
DL: Well, I only do this as a warning to others. In voodoo the important thing is to be taken over by the spirits. In white voodoo the spirit leaves at the end of the ritual. But if you get it wrong the spirit can refuse to leave and takes over the host body. The host no longer has any control or will of his own. A powerful practitioner can project a spirit into a dead body and revive it. This is serious stuff. I recommend people don't get involved. Even the revenge powders don't need such a heavy commitment. Keep away from the blackness.
L: Is it possible to believe in God and good and practise voodoo?
DL: Oh yes, because white voodoo is based on the understanding of the relationship between plants and planets and how to mix the elements to your use. Some plants are related to others.... some compatible, some poles apart. You need to know the combinations, that's all.
L: How did you learn?
DL: I came across Morgana de Montsegur through a friend of mine. She helped me with a Ju Ju powder to drive away enemies. People were being very destructive and negative towards me. Morgana's mixture rubbed on my forearms sorted it all out. Those who were trying to poison others against me were revealed in their true colours. Things got back to normal again.
L. So you have a lot to thank voodoo for.
DL: I certainly do. If you don't find a wise teacher, you will always be afraid of voodoo, but like white witchcraft it can do good if you treat it with respect.
L: Thank you for your frankness.
